The historic 1895 Texas Theater on the square in Waxahachie was the venue for "HOV Tour: Three Folks in a Van," an extraordinary evening’s entertainment on an ordinary Saturday night in March. This acoustic song swap featured 3 stellar Texas singer/songwriters, Walt Wilkins, Susan Gibson, and Brandon Rhyder, who gave us several hours of soul-lifting transportation into a spell binding world of voices and guitars while bringing to life some of the best original Texas music this side of the Red River.

The audience was positively transfixed and hanging on every word and note as the three artists swapped songs, stories, and frequently joined in with one another to blend harmonies. I think the grand old Texas Theater had some respectful influence on the crowd that congregated there. The audience waited reverently for the last notes of every song to fade away before bursting into enthusiastic applause. Only at the very end did a few spectators call out requests. Even the artists themselves were amazed at the patient, hushed expectancy the audience exhibited through the very last song. This was the next to last stop on this tour, but the trio promised to schedule more dates in the near future for the second lap of the HOV Tour. Watch their sites (http://www.waltwilkins.com/ ; http://susansongs.com ; or http://www.brandonrhyder.com) for venues and dates near you. You won’t regret spending the evening this way. Check out the schedule of events for the Texas Music Theater in downtown Waxahachie for other wonderful coming attractions.
