About Dave Pilot
Dave Pilot got to Texas
the same way Sam Houston and William Travis did -- he came from
somewhere else, and stuck around. Already a legend in his own mind,
albeit not so much in the view of anybody else, he likes to expound at
length on the virtues of souls poured out over worn guitars at old
kitchen tables. Ask Dave what makes this whole Americana and
independent music thing so special, and you're liable to be on the
receiving end of a profanity-laced tirade explaining how the road from
Hank to Johnny to Willie wasn't ever supposed to end up on the doorstep
of a beret-wearing pansy like Tim McGraw. And that's just on a
good day. But what else can be expected from a Baptist preacher's
kid reared near
the hallowed grounds at Gettysburg and now entranced by the spell of all
things Texas? Here's all you need to know about this guy:
He loves music, particularly if Chris Wall or Brian Burns or David Allan Coe or Jackson Taylor are playing it, but loves it all if it says something worth hearing. He's the proud daddy of the best set of twins ever born under the Lone Star flag. He's got a damned opinion on everything. He's voting for Kinky in '06. Read his stuff at your own risk. And thank us later. |
